The dream

I set a target, I go for it, and I don’t quit.

I’ll change the route as often as I need to, but I always need a destination. Without one, I drift.

So here’s the goal: own a solid expedition boat that I can live aboard and put to work.

I don’t want a boat that just sits there. A small sailboat would probably end up being a charter boat, and that’s not what I want. A yacht would leave me wondering what to do with it. A working boat gives me a purpose from day one.

But I’m not going to jump straight into buying one. I’d be buying something I don’t understand yet, so I’ll start small.

Step 1: Learn to sail.
A tiny sailboat, right here. Not something I plan to keep, but a way to learn. Reading the sea and weather, navigating, and understanding how a boat behaves when things go wrong. A small boat is the cheapest way to get started.

Step 2: Get the licence.

Step 3: Find the real boat.
I’ll look for a solid working boat and bring her here. I want to be on board for the journey, learning as much as I can along the way.

Step 4: Rebuild her.
My port will be close to my family and where my kids go to school. This is where the boat will be based, and where I’ll turn her into an explorer or expedition vessel.

That’s the plan. The details will change along the way, and when they do, I’ll share them.

Do you think I’m crazy? Hopefully! Follow along, and let’s see if I can pull this monster of a project off.

For now, the goal is big and the boat is small.
